DESCRIPTION OF THE WORKSHOPS
Andrej Tomeljak: Overview of stereoscopic techniques from anaglyph to auto-stereoscopic
An overview of how stereoscopic viewing techniques have evolved in the last few decades and how XpanD products have been part of the recent developments, with a special focus on current and emerging techologies.
Michael Schiebe: Stereoscopy in our head
Of the inner working of stereopsis and the interesting problems this poses.
Íris Ólafsdóttir: Kúla Deeper – 3D photography with single lens cameras
Kúla deeper is a device for taking stereoscopic pictures and videos using a single lens camera. the different perspectives are projected into deeper’s mirror system and into the lens, resulting in a side-by-side image. This workshop gives you the opportunity to try it out, get a feeling for how it works, and process your pictures and videos in the software kúlacode, which transforms them to different 3d formats like anaglyph, wigglegrams and mpo. for the 3d televisions. You might even influence further development.
Ken Burgess: Digital Stereoscopic Viewing methods and Viewer Technologies
New digital technologies are making it easier to enjoy 3D viewing, but unlike 2D, the method used for stereoscopic viewing has a big influence on the viewing experience. Ken Burgess will present an overview of digital stereoscopic viewing methods and viewer technologies. He will explain how viewing geometry affects the 3D aspect ratio and how device characteristics affect the quality of 3D imagery. To be discussed: digital display technologies and their application to 3D, recent display developments and alternate viewing methods.
