Abstract:

The objective of PRISM project is to develop a well structured research and training programme in order to push the transition of European process industries towards more knowledge-based and customised production and systems organisations through the application of an integrated set of computer-aided process modelling, optimisation and advanced control tools. Such tools will provide opportunities for sustainable process integration in order to reduce cost, waste and energy consumption while taking into account realistic operating objectives (controllability, productivity, robustness of performance etc). To this end co-operation between universities, research centres, SMEs and industries is vital to learn and share knowledge in order to support the implementation of dynamic manufacturing industries.

Department of Systems and Control is in charge for PRISM's Cluster 3: Real-time Optimisation. The objectives of this research area are optimal real-time control of various processes taking into account realistic uncertainties/constraints and constraints and the development of operating policies that can readily be applied in practise.
