to properly reduce the reference temperature in the rooms when they are not occupied, and at the correct start time, before the rooms are occupied, recover the reference temperature back to the defined value. |

algorithm calculates reference temperatures in the rooms where the occupancy is known in advance as well as in the rooms where the occupancy is not known in advance. Moreover, the algorithm can be used for both the heating and cooling of the rooms. The algorithm was tested for a whole year of weather data using a simulated building model. In the algorithm a parameter of the static model for the rise time calculation was adaptively adjusted. |

simulation studies show that desired level of thermal room comfort, where the occupancy is known in advance, can be preserved with the proposed algorithm with an approximately 10 % lower energy consumption for the heating and cooling of the rooms than with the constant reference recovery time setting. Algorithm gives promising results that have to be also evaluated in the real building. |
